I heard someone say that our lives are simply all about RELATIONSHIPS, since we are constantly in relationships with EVERYTHING, and EVERYONE. COMPASSION IN ACTION(A REAL LIFE ILLUSTRATION)
I was lost in worries, when the train stopped at the station. A dirty boy, with a dirty backpack, and a dirty dog came in, and invaded my space, positioning himself really close to me, inside the busy train car.
I instinctively moved away in disgust, as I did not want to be touched. But then I became curious, or maybe just bored, and decided to really look.
I saw the boy's dirty blond hair. And I saw him pressing his forehead against the cold, hard pole, in shame, and I saw the beginning of a tear in his intense, dreamy, blue eyes.
I saw that his dog loved him, and was cuddled at his feet, head down, a beautiful, and kind mirror to his master’s sadness. This way, they were in this together.
And this way, I noticed that I was actually myself there with them, right there…
And I realized that the dirt on the boy’s face was a symbol of the stains in my own heart, rooted, and hidden deep inside, the last remains of a great pain that I had forgotten I couldn’t quite shake off.
The boy was wearing my hurt for me, all over his blond hair, dirty clothes, and fair skin, appearing powerful somehow, in his vulnerable existence before everyone’s stares, just so that MY OWN HEART COULD SEE IT, and FEEL IT, and MELT MY OWN DIRT, BACK INTO LOVE.
